I wouldn't spend more than $750 and that's if I was in the market for one, which I am not. It seems the majority of straight receivers feature this logo, while it seems to be lacking on a lot of slant receivers. This is not gospel, but one way to gauge whether you have a a straight or slant receiver without removing the thumbhole stock is to look for the Norinco star logo on the left side of the receiver in front of the trigger pin.
NORINCO MAK 90 ACCESSORIES SERIES
Ironwood Designs also makes excellent copies for the MAK series of guns. Cheaper standard combloc stocks can be made to fit with some sanding due to the thicker receiver. Expect to spend a few hundred dollars on a Chinese stock, pistol grip, and hardware. Also of note - surplus Chinese stocks are hard to find and quite expensive. If you want to replace the furniture with a standard AK fixed stock and pistol grip, you'll have more options with a straight receiver. These sporters were neutered - generally missing bayonet lugs, featuring welded muzzle caps or turned downed threads (or never threaded at all), and with thumbhole stock/grip combos which some find atrocious (myself included). $650-$1000 depending on condition, accessories, and where you buy (more expensive on GB due to seller fees, shipping, transfers cheaper in private FTF deals on Armslist and local forums) Straight-backed receivers are more desirable than slant/angle-cut receivers.
NORINCO MAK 90 ACCESSORIES UPGRADE
In Fact what I am saying is that the TAPCO Double Hook Trigger is nice upgrade vs a parts swap just to stay legal.Solid all-around rifles. This does not mean that you should just go ahead and violate 922r. But it is my understanding that they have not prosecuted anyone for 922r let alone convicted anyone or even plead anyone down from a charge of violating 922r. THIS WILL NOT WORK ON SQUARE CUT REAR RECEIVER MAK-90, YOU WILL NEED M4-MAK THIS DOES NOT WORK ON MILLED RECEIVER MAK-90. I figure if they are going after anyone, it will be someone selling a quantity of banned imported firearms in some website or other channel with too many foreign parts. Personally I've NEVER had any government agency knock on my door, or stop me at a range or competition or even a gun show and ask to inspect my guns.

They are parts kits, sold as-is and include everything pictured. Nice thing is it says US made all over the new parts so if it was to come in to question 15 years from now it will remain above reproach. Norinco Mak-90 Sporter 7.62x39 Rifle Parts Kit NOTE: Parts kits are NOT functioning firearms. Over all worth EVERY PENNY to be rid of that Thumb-hole stock. The bolt from the Hungarian SA 85M is slotted down both sides and appears to be perfect in every way. My buddy got the Ironwood Designs (VERY NICE) but he waited a few months for them to be made and shipped.Īll in all it was about $150 for everything including 2 TAPCO MAGS (That I'm not sure if I like). All three MAK 90 bolts are well finished and properly hardened but the bolt from the machined receiver is much better. If you buy US made stocks you'll have 5 parts and you are all good, If you have a Factory Flash Hider get 2 US mags for good measure if you are worried.Īll TAPCO stocks are US made and decent quality for synthetic. Much cleaner take up and a clean consistant break and it counts as 3 US parts. No Trigger slap at all and a honestly one of the best triggers I've ever felt on an AK. But I like to tinker so 30 minutes with 800 then 1200 grit paper and some metal polish and it was definitely better than the stock Norinco trigger group.

I went with the TAPCO G2 Double hook trigger. I'd like not to relie on USA magazine parts for my compliance parts count. Guns International Advertising Policy is the 1 Gun Classified website that brings gun buyers and gun brokers or sellers together through classifed advertising of guns, gun related items and services for sale online. So if the single hook trigger is not a problem, all that remains is replacing the for arm and upper guard.

It,s already got a Tapco folding butt stock and an American made pistol grip. Do I need to swap it out to remain compliant? I've never heard of one being on a stock imported rifle. There is no marking of "USA" manufacture on it. It's color is different from the rest of the rifle, so I guess it may be after market. It's turned straight up and not canted to the right like others I have seen. Is it necessary that the Tapco trigger group be a double hook? It's already installed and it has a very light trigger pull though there is some travel. The Tapco G2 replacement FCG is a single hook. The original Chinese FCG is a double hook. I was able to take a closer look at the Mak90 today.ġ.
